Privacy

Privacy policy.

Civic Desk is meant to make public local-government records easier to follow. It should collect as little personal information as practical for that purpose.

What Civic Desk collects

You can read Civic Desk without creating an account. If you sign up for email updates, Civic Desk collects your email address and any subscription preferences needed to send those updates.

If you email Civic Desk with a question, correction, or source problem, the message may include your email address, name, and whatever information you choose to send.

How email updates are used

Email updates are for occasional Civic Desk messages about Plainfield issues, source-record updates, and useful site changes. They are not campaign emails, paid advertisements, or a township notification service.

Subscriber information is not sold. You can unsubscribe from update emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in an email, or by contacting updates@civicdesk.us.

Services that help operate the site

Civic Desk uses service providers to host the site, process email subscriptions, receive forwarded email, and protect basic site operations. Those providers may process limited technical information needed to provide their services.

Cloudflare

Hosts the public site and may process basic traffic, security, DNS, and delivery logs.

Buttondown

Will manage the email update list, subscription forms, unsubscribe links, and email delivery.

Google / Gmail

Receives forwarded Civic Desk email for general questions, corrections, and update-list messages.

Stripe

Processes voluntary contributions if you choose to use the contribution page.

Public records and source documents

Civic Desk summarizes public records and links back to source materials. Those records may contain names, addresses, parcel information, public comments, meeting participation, or other information that appears in the township source systems.

Civic Desk does not control the original public records. If something appears wrong, missing, outdated, or unnecessarily exposed on Civic Desk, contact corrections@civicdesk.us.

Accuracy and official sources

Civic Desk is independent and is not affiliated with or operated by Plainfield Charter Township. Mistakes, omissions, or outdated details are possible. Before relying on information for an important decision, verify it in the linked source documents or with the township directly.
